When I’m not working, I enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities. I especially like distance running, hiking, camping, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and working in the yard. I also enjoy daily walks in the hills and playing in the yard with my little Cairn terrier, Playa.
If I’m not outside, you can usually find me tinkering. If you are unfamiliar with the term, that means I enjoy pulling apart, fixing, modifying, and inventing new uses for my gadgets. This often involves trips to Radio Shack, using a soldering iron, and voiding the manufacturer’s warranty. My wife likes to brag to friends that I programmed the TV’s remote control to adjust the air conditioner, but I don’t see how that’s such a big deal. All that it took was reading the manual. I am more proud of the time I used a Mindstorms NXT robotics kit to train my dog not to whine in the middle of the night.
I also have a growing interest in Web development. I am inspired by the possibilities of today’s open source application frameworks, and I enjoy designing and developing standards-compliant Web sites. I created this site as well as my blog, and also recently created an online jewelry store and a vacation rental site.
